Pale and interesting or bright and bold? New Earthborn paint shades for A/W 2013

If, like me, you love the versatility of paint, then don’t miss the new colours just launched by Earthborn for Autumn/Winter 2013. Keeping a keen eye on emerging colour trends, Earthborn’s palette of 60 shades includes deep warm reds and inky blues for those who love darker hues:

These warm shades (colour names include Fruit Salad and darker Ruby Ribbon) create a cosy, autumnal look, whilst the deep blue Button Tin, below is offset with soft lilacs, taupes and creams (try Damson Mousse and Lily Lily Rose).

Perfect for fans of sunny yellow: don’t miss this retro citrus shade, Daisy Chain, above.

Greys and gentle pinks are also having a moment right now: this colour story below is inspired by the Yorkshire Moors and includes colours such as Inglenook, Tuffet, and Cat’s Cradle:

And there can never be enough pale blue paints: here styled up in a kitchen, these soft blues include Gingham and Dorothy, but the shades would work equally well in bedrooms and bathrooms: Earthborn paints via findthedetails.com

High summer colour trends: pink and other brights

With May underway, the garden is finally filled with colour and  I’m discovering what has been planted here by previous, green-fingered owners; right now, the space is filled with pink-toned flowers: some are blowsy, dramatic and exotic – not the colours typically associated with a cottage garden – as huge rhododendron bushes are produce dramatic, fuschia-coloured spears; whilst the apple trees are covered with blossom in more delicate tones:

And, online and in the shops, nature’s brights are in vogue once again to brighten up our homes in time for summer sunshine. I’ve been inspired by this heavenly Designers Guild living room: Savine, the tie dye linen shown here as curtains, is my current favourite fabric:  it comes in several shades including blues, orange and green as well as this stunning fuschia pink:
